For years, we have observed in our treatment rooms the transformations that a facial massage can produce when performed with genuine expertise: features relax, the face appears more open, contours are reshaped, the skin becomes more radiant and certain wrinkles appear reduced. Our clients notice these changes, and so do we, every day beneath our hands.
But we wanted to go beyond observation and personal experience and put our expertise to scientific evaluation. For the first time, we submitted the LB Facialistes Method© to a clinical study under dermatological supervision.
Why scientifically test our Method?
In the age of social media and artificial intelligence, before-and-after images are no longer always enough to distinguish what is real, retouched, filtered or AI-generated. For us, credibility therefore requires objective measurements carried out within a precise clinical framework.
This approach also reflects our desire to help advance the facialist profession by providing manual expertise with concrete data on which to build. That is the ambition behind this study: bringing together the intelligence of the hands with the rigour of science.
How was the clinical study designed?
We chose GREDECO, a laboratory specialising in clinical evaluation in dermatology and cosmetology.
Over a period of three months, 29 women aged 45 to 58 received five one-hour massages based on the LB Facialistes Method©, at Day 0, Day 15, Day 30, Day 60 and Day 90.
The protocol was conducted under dermatological supervision and under standardised conditions. It was designed to answer two questions: what happens after a single massage, and how do the results evolve when sessions are repeated?
Why did we choose the GREDECO laboratory?
We wanted to work with a laboratory with genuine expertise in evaluating skin efficacy.
GREDECO regularly assesses cosmetic products and creams, as well as aesthetic technologies such as LED treatments and procedures used in aesthetic medicine. It therefore seemed particularly relevant to submit our manual Method to the same rigorous evaluation standards.
What effects of facial massage did we measure?
Several parameters were assessed: skin radiance, the appearance of wrinkles, dermal density and cheekbone volume.
For wrinkles, we used the Bazin scale, which allows changes that are genuinely perceptible to the naked eye to be assessed.
This analysis was complemented by standardised photography, 3D analysis to precisely measure changes in cheekbone volume, and high-frequency ultrasound to assess dermal density.
What results were observed after a single massage?
After the very first session, we observed:
+34% skin radiance
-22% in the appearance of wrinkles
-26% in the appearance of the frown line
-20% in the appearance of crow’s feet
-19% in the appearance of nasolabial folds
These results show that a single hour of facial massage performed with precise, expert technique can have a measurable impact.
The next essential question was: would these results continue to improve with repeated massages?
What did we observe after five massages?
One of the study’s key findings is the progression of results over the course of the massages.
After five sessions, the measurements showed:
+68% skin radiance
+26% dermal density
Wrinkle measurements also continued to evolve:
-32% for crow’s feet
-29% for the frown line
-25% for nasolabial folds
These results indicate that the effects are progressive, cumulative and lasting. Regular sessions help amplify and build upon the results over time.
This is the very principle behind a treatment course: each massage builds on the previous one and contributes to deeper, long-term work on the face.
Beyond the numbers: how did participants feel?
We also wanted to understand what participants actually saw and felt in their own faces.
Their perception closely echoed the clinical measurements:
93% found their skin more radiant.
90% noticed less visible wrinkles and firmer-looking skin.
76% said that people around them had noticed a positive change.
But what we found particularly significant was their perception of the progression of results:
97% felt that the results were greater than after the first massage.
83% felt that the results exceeded their expectations.
What does this study reveal about the facialist profession?
This study contributes to changing the way facial massage is perceived.
When based on a structured Method and performed with mastered professional techniques, its effects can be visible and measurable.
Above all, it confirms a belief we have championed since the creation of LB Facialistes: the hand is a true tool of aesthetic expertise.
Being a facialist is therefore not simply about reproducing a sequence of movements. It requires the ability to observe a face, perform a morphofacial assessment and create a bespoke facial massage.
Why train in facialism as a beauty professional?
Becoming a facialist means turning your hands into a true area of expertise.
For beauty professionals who already hold a recognised qualification in aesthetics, the Esthetician Programme provides an opportunity to specialise and refine the precision of their technique.
The more highly trained the hands, the greater their value.
What comes next?
This first study marks an important milestone, but above all, it opens the door to new avenues of research.
We want to continue measuring the effects of facial massage, explore additional parameters and gain a better understanding of the mechanisms behind the results observed.
This approach will allow us to continue enriching the LB Facialistes Method©, our practice and our teaching based on objective data.
“We knew the power of the hand. Today, science gives it a new dimension: the power of proof.”
Is the LB Facialistes Method© clinically proven?
Yes, the LB Facialistes Method© has been evaluated in an independent clinical study conducted with GREDECO, under standardised conditions and dermatological supervision. The aim was to objectively measure the effects of facial massage on several parameters: the appearance of wrinkles, skin radiance, cheekbone volume and dermal density.
What results were measured after a facial massage?
After the very first massage, the study measured a reduction in the appearance of several wrinkles: -26% for the frown line, -20% for crow’s feet and -19% for nasolabial folds. These results provide objective data on the visible effects of a massage performed according to the LB Facialistes Method©.
What results were observed after five massages?
After five massages, the study measured, in particular, +68% skin radiance and +26% dermal density. The appearance of wrinkles also continued to improve, with -32% for crow’s feet, -29% for the frown line and -25% for nasolabial folds following the massage performed on Day 90.
Why is regularity important when it comes to facial massage?
The study was designed to observe both the immediate effects of facial massage and how they evolve over the course of several sessions. The results show continued improvement after repeated massages. Regularity therefore allows each massage to build on the previous one and gives real meaning to a course of treatments.
How were the effects of the LB Facialistes Method© measured?
Several tools were combined to obtain an objective assessment of the face: the Bazin scale to assess the appearance of wrinkles, standardised photographs, 3D analysis to measure cheekbone volume, and high-frequency ultrasound to assess dermal density. This approach makes it possible to go beyond a simple photographic before-and-after comparison.
What does this study demonstrate about the facialist profession?
It highlights the value of structured manual expertise. Facial massage is not simply about learning professional techniques: it requires knowledge of facial anatomy, fundamental techniques, morphofacial assessment, precise technique and the ability to adapt the treatment to each individual face. Precision in technique makes all the difference.
What is the LB Facialistes Method©?
Born from the union of the expert hands of Delphine Langlois and Catherine Bourgeois, the LB Facialistes Method© is the result of decades of experience and expertise.
Two complementary backgrounds, one shared ambition: to reveal each person’s unique potential, because every face is different and deserves a bespoke approach.
Together, they developed an innovative method built around three stages, combining expertise, scientific rigour and the intelligence of touch:
- Assess individual needs through a morphofacial assessment.
- Create a bespoke massage by combining the techniques best suited to each face.
- Teach personalised self-massage techniques to help extend the benefits of the massage over time.
Designed to sculpt, smooth, drain and restore the face’s natural radiance, the LB Facialistes Method© enhances sensations and promotes a profound sense of release.
Each massage helps retrain the facial muscles, making the results progressive, cumulative and lasting.
With the LB Facialistes Method©, reveal your potential. The future is in your hands.
Where can I receive a massage using the LB Facialistes Method©?
